Behind every translation is a person who is passionate about food, passionate about languages and passionate about quality.

The Gourmet Translations Team

Gourmet Translations is headquartered near Bonn, Germany and is owned and operated by Sarah Bessioud. Sarah completed a BA in French and Business Studies and went on to complete a Masters degree in International Hospitality Management at the Scottish Hotel School. She then began her career in the kitchens of Le Méridien London Gatwick. Since then, she has gained experience in a range of hotels and restaurants in the UK and abroad, and was responsible for the business development and marketing of four historic hotels and their award-winning restaurants close to London.
A career break to bring up her two daughters and relocation to Germany also coincided with a career change when Sarah founded Gourmet Translations, finally uniting her two great passions: food and languages.

Sarah’s love of food and languages is shared by a select handful of project managers who smoothly coordinate a team of translators located across the globe. All of our team members have been carefully selected based on their expertise in specific areas of the food and beverage industry. The diverse strengths of our translators ensure that we are able to allocate a team member with the specialist knowledge to deal with your translation. This professional and efficient office atmosphere is fuelled by a pleasant mix of coffee, tea, spontaneous gourmet lunches, the occasional glass of wine and an excellent selection of chocolate.

All of our translators…

  • are native speakers of the target language who can produce perfectly fluent, idiomatic and natural-sounding translations
  • have an excellent understanding of the language and the culture of the country from where the source text originates. This ensures an accurate translation in which all cultural nuances are transposed to create a text that is tailored to the target reader
  • have specialist knowledge and experience in the field in which they translate, ensuring a full understanding of the source text and the precise translation of all terminology
